THE SOURCE WOODSTOCK

The Source Woodstock is built on lands sacred to the Lenape/Munsee people. Originally part of a larger farm in the 19th century, this property was rechristened as “The Garden of the Gods,” a Beaux Arts style artist’s retreat in 1909. During this time many artists came to Woodstock, including Hervey White, creator of the early maverick Colony, who is credited with shaping the vision of Woodstock as a ‘Colony of the Arts.’

Then in the 1960’s the property morphed into a typical Woodstock commune. We acquired the property in 2017 and renovated, preserving as much of the original character of the house as possible.

In 2019 we opened our doors as The Source Woodstock, a space for people to live intentionally with the land. Our land backs up to hundreds of acres of DEC forever wild land at the base of Mt. Tobias and Wilson State Park. Behind the main building is miles of hiking trails. The hamlet of Lake Hill is known for a succession of small spring fed ponds leading up to Cooper Lake, a main water supply for NYC. One of the small ponds is on the property and many wild animals frequent it.
